Jeannie Kenmotsu
Jeannie Kenmotsu is a Ph.D. student in the History of Art Department at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on the art of early modern Japan, with particular emphasis on painting, prints, and illustrated books. She is the recipient of awards and support from the Japan Foundation, Blakemore Foundation, Japan Art History Workshop (日本美術史に関する国際大学院生会議), U.S. Department of Education, and University of Pennsylvania, and she currently holds a multiyear Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship for Scholars in Critical Bibliography at the Rare Book School, University of Virginia. After a prior career phase in contemporary art, she remains interested in artistic engagements with place, memory, and belonging up to the present moment.
